Mr. Rice was elected senior vice president-administration and will continue to
serve as assistant secretary. In this new capacity, he will have oversight for
RPM's annual planning process and operating performance. Additionally, he will
maintain his responsibilities for a wide array of RPM's administrative and human
He had been RPM's vice president-administration since October 2001 and assistant
secretary since August 1999. Previously, he was vice president-risk management
and benefits. From 1997 to 1999, Mr. Rice was director of risk management and
employee benefits, and served as director of benefits from 1995 to 1997. Before
joining RPM, he held various positions with The Wyatt Company, most recently as
a senior account manager. A resident of Hudson, Ohio, Mr. Rice graduated from
Miami (Ohio) University with bachelor of science and bachelor of arts degrees in
mathematics, statistics and systems analysis.
Mr. Tompkins was elected senior vice president and will continue in his
positions as RPM's general counsel and secretary. This promotion recognizes Mr.
Tompkins' past contributions to RPM and growing responsibilities and oversight
in a number of corporate management and external communication areas. He will
also continue to manage the firm's internal legal resources and external law
firms serving RPM around the world.
Mr. Tompkins had been the firm's vice president, general counsel and secretary
since June 1998. Prior to joining RPM in 1996 as assistant general counsel, he
held various positions with Reliance Electric Company, including senior
corporate counsel, director of corporate development, director of investor
relations and product marketing manager. He was a litigation attorney with Exxon
Corporation from 1985 to 1987. He began his career as a corporate attorney with
Reliance Electric in 1981. A resident of Westlake, Ohio, Mr. Tompkins received
his undergraduate degree from Mercyhurst College and his law degree from
Cleveland-Marshall Law School.
