RPM’s culture of growth is largely guided by The Value of 168, a corporate philosophy set forth by the company’s founder Frank C. Sullivan. The figure “168,” which he proudly displayed on his license plate, represents the number of hours in a week. It serves as a reminder that each of us has a limited amount of time—and a duty to use this gift wisely and productively.
Over the past five decades, this philosophy has become a deeply engrained part of RPM’s corporate culture and is the guiding force behind everything we do. At RPM, The Value of 168 comes to life through motivated associates who enjoy their work and create the conditions that allow our customers to grow and our stockholders to prosper. A unique form of corporate governance and a vital part of our heritage, it signifies RPM’s enduring commitment to conduct business by doing the right things, the right way for the right reasons—on behalf of its associates, customers and shareholders. This philosophy is embodied in the company’s Code of Conduct, The Values & Expectations of 168.
The most current version of The Values & Expectations of 168 was approved by RPM’s board of directors on October 6, 2022. It has been translated from English into multiple languages to ensure it is reasonably accessible to RPM’s associates and other stakeholders.
Though compliance matters can often be resolved at the local level, RPM’s hotline—where consistent with applicable country law—offers an anonymous way for its associates and other stakeholders to report concerns about any unethical, improper, illegal or unsafe business practices, conduct and/or financial matters. The hotline is operated by independent, specially trained third-party representatives.
RPM will investigate each report as appropriate and has a non-retaliation policy for good faith reporting as set forth in our Code of Conduct, The Values & Expectations of 168. For more information, read our hotline instructions (English version).
