We are committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across all our locations – both what we control directly and what we influence. As we grow, we factor climate risks into every major decision, from where we invest and expand to how we shape and improve our products.
We use our data management system to collect and estimate GHG emissions across our business, including distribution centers and offices. Tracking and managing GHG emissions through a central system helps us monitor progress toward our reduction targets and execute our strategy to achieve these goals. To reduce our GHG emissions, we continually work to ensure our facilities are operating efficiently, converting to energy sources with lower GHG emissions and investing in renewable energy sources.
In addition to reducing GHG emissions, we are also working to reduce other forms of air emissions. Although most of our facilities do not generate significant air emissions, we continue to seek new ways to lower our environmental footprint and go beyond compliance with air quality regulations.
Energy Star Treasure Hunts Uncover Energy, Cost Savings
Throughout FY25, RPM associates participated in Energy Star Treasure Hunts, a program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in which participants identify quick energy-saving opportunities at their facilities. Our teams at 15 facilities identified 39 projects. This included 34 energy reduction projects, yielding an annual energy reduction of more than 10 million kWh (electrical) and 1.44 billion BTUs (natural gas). It also included five solar energy projects, which saved 2 million kWh. In total, these projects result in $708,000 in energy cost savings annually.
