In recognition of Earth Day in April, the Rising Stars Program, along with the NYC Parks Department, presented an engaging half-day of activities at the Roy Wilkins Park in New York featuring national speaker Monika Serrano of Tuner Construction, Assembly Member Alicia Hyndman, Council Member Natasha Williams and Senator Leroy Comrie.
David Hutchinson, Founding Director of the Rising Stars Program through Tremco CPG, planned activities for the event that highlighted the Rising Stars program's commitment to construction sustainability and youth-centered education within the community. Participants enjoyed sustainable construction challenges like the Ice Bucket Challenge, a sustainability board game and the always popular Giant Jenga Competition.
Tremco CPG and David Hutchinson have been proudly managing the Rising Stars Program with remarkable success. It is expanding to new locations, including Cleveland, Ohio, and forging a groundbreaking partnership with Stonhard in the Camden, New Jersey, market this spring.
In addition, the Rising Stars Program initiated the Achieve Green Program, offering youth pathways to careers in the green/clean industry. Recently, it secured over $900k to create direct pathway jobs for Massachusetts youth, marking April as a pivotal month for our sustainability efforts!
